Hi - I'm going to China for 2 weeks this summer - i know it's going to be hot & can be rainy, so i'm trying to time it as best i can. I'll be going to Beijing, Shanghai, Terracotta Warriors & Li River (& poss Hong Kong). What i wanted to ask was how much the weather changes week-by-week, I'm looking at going either 23rd June-8th July, or a week later 30th June-15th July - does a week later make much difference - as the guidebooks show July to be far rainier? Is it best to start in the south & work north? Thanks for any advise!

It going to be very hot in the southern China, it might be rain but shouldn't too had. Usually is more like shower. Comes fast and goes fast!

I was there that time last year...never saw rain, but 40C temps every day and even hotter along the Yangtze River.

Man, it was hot there....and humid just for fun!

Rain is okay, just have an umbrella. Raincoats are no good as you'll just steam inside! Very hot too. It won't make much difference when you go. Just have footwear that accepts being wet. Teva sandals worked for us.
