Hi, Thank you to those who helped with my itinerary! I leave in two weeks, so excited. Through these forums, I have booked a private tour guide in Xian named DingYi. He is taking 6 of us with an English speaking driver plus private tour guide to the Terracotta Warriors and surrounding areas for 9 hours. He is taking us to a local breakfast and then after the TCW to a local lunch spot away from all the other tourists. Total cost is 1000 RMB which does not include entry fees or meals but I reckon this is good value as we won't need to worry about transport all day and our itinerary is flexible. It works out about $36 NZD each.
We would now like any tour guide recommendations to do a similar thing in Chengdu. 6 of us on a tour to the Panda Base and then down to Leshan in the afternoon to the giant Buddha. If anyone can help that would be much appreciated.

Steve.

Re your day tour of the TW in Xi'an, the guide will probably (almost certainly) take you to one of the "souvenir centers" that makes replicas of the warriors and sells tons of other stuff. If you're not careful this will use up a couple of hours of your time (and gain your guide a commission on whatever you buy). Discuss it with your group and if you don't want such a stop included in your activities, explicitly inform your guide as to your decision.
