Hi everyone,

I'm flying in and out of Hong Kong 4th-16th of July and am trying to sort out an itinerary for the 6 days i'll be spending in China with my sister (9th-16th). I'm going to get my visa sorted tomorrow and so need to book hostels so I can put them on my application form.

so far I have

9/7: HK - Shenzhen - Guilin trains
10/7: Guilin/Yangshuo
11/7: Guilin - Hengyang train
12/7: Hengyang
13/7: Hengyang
14/7: Hengyang - Shaoguan early train, spend day visiting Danxia mountains
15/7 Shaoguan - Shenzhen, spend night in Shenzhen
16/7 Shenzhen - Hong Kong airport

Just wondering if anyone had any experience of any of these places and if we should spend more/fewer nights anywhere?

Thank you

I spent a few days in Hengyang many years ago. Can't say much stood out other than how typically provincial chinese it was. Lots of run down industrial sites, lots of white tiled-blue windowed 70-90s construction. Lots of new construction going up with neon.

Note that you can pebook any hotel with free cancellation until after you get your visa. They don't necessarily have to be in towns you are going to. There are no checks made.

If it was me, I'd just book all the nights in the first place I was going to be staying.

If I were you, I wouldn't be booking any rooms in Hengyang, not for one night much less three. You must have your reasons for heading there, I suppose.
