British Citizens can get permit to Tibet.
Everest base camp is still closed for Foreigners.
#540 asked: And any tourists that have or haven't recently been able to visit Everest Base Camp as planned?
#527 had already written: EBC was not applied for as we were advised that the permit would be refused in that case ..

I am 100 percent sure that no any foreigners had got chance to get to Everest recently. In the travel permit we can write Everest but from the Chey village before around 85km of Everest, Even before the Geu la pass (5200m) from where we can see the view of 5 Mountains above 8000m plus we cannot get. So we wont see this most beauitiful view also. Other side from Old Tingri we cannot get in.
I juts got news that Tibet Permits will not be issued from now to August 20 due to Shonton festival ongoing, anyone can confirm this??

Rightnow we dont have any recent news but if any updates will let every one know.
Shoton Festival is listed on 17th on Friday so there will be few days holiday after that.
Maybe on monday there will be update news.
Hi, we are back in Sydney after our mountain bike ride from Lhasa to Kathmandu. Sadly we did not get to EBC. Basically, they put a 'Chinese Escort' in our van at new Tingri checkpoint and when we stopped at EBC turnoff, kept a very careful eye on us preventing us proceeding any further! I will write a report on our bike trip for those interested and fit. Note, we were two Australian passport holders. We entered via Kodari/Friendship Bridge Nepal.
