i am thinking of taking a solo trip, but not sure where i want to go. would india be fun? or would it be an isolating experience? any thoughts on other destinations that might be good options? google is very, very unhelpful. thanks!
Well of course, but I rather think your interests, and the things you want to see do and experience are rather more important in choosing a travel destination.
It really depends on what kind of experience you want and also what do you want to take back from your solo trip. I enjoy interacting with other travelers while traveling solo. In India that's not feasible at all the places you want to visit.
Also, how long you plan the trip?
AS in #1 above......what are you interested in?......What is your budget?....When do you want to go? These are the kind of things I would consider before choosing a place to visit.
Is it possible to travel solo in India? Of course..many people do.Whether or not it would be an 'isolating experience' depends on you I guess.Do you mean isolated from locals or from other travellers?
India is terrific for solo travel. I am now on my 16th India-trip. Probably more than 10 of those I have traveled solo. I'd say it is much easier coming in contact with the locals, and other travelers too, when you are solo.
Btw I think the best experiences in India is not the ones where you go to 'see' this or that sight. Just walking around Indian towns and cities is to me the most rewarding experience. Many of us who keep coming back again and again end up being mostly interested in the daily life in India. That you actually experience best on your own.
I don't know if you are male or female but I'd say India is easier for a solo male. Depending exactly on where you travel you might find, as a female, the male attention you receive becomes rather annoying and bothersome.
