Visa for American - Abroad?

Can I get an Indian Tourist Visa (I'm American) abroad in Europe without any extreme complications?

You should be able to get it but with soem extra time while they do some checks. Look up the website of the consulate where you plan to get it.

You can get it at most Indian consulates abroad. It takes 4 - 5 working days to get it from day you submit application. Cost is about US$ 60, plus a fax fee. Apply for it on Monday and you should be able to pick it up by Friday, or if lucky, on Thursday. Some Indian consulates offer expedited service for a fee. An Indian tourist visa is valid from date of issue, not date of entry into India, so if you want to spend a full six months in India, you'll need to apply for the visa near the time you plan to enter the country. Since you are an American passport holder, why not take the easy route and apply for a 10-year multple-entry tourist visa while still in the USA. The application form with instructions and info. on fees and where to send can be downloaded online. Fill out the form, include two photos and fees, send to designated consulate (depending on where you live in USA) and VIOLA....it's easy. The 10-year visa will allow you to enter India repeated times for stays of up to 6 months for the the life of the visa without having to apply for a new one each time you enter. A ten-year visa costs US$150. You can only apply for this visa while in the USA. If you apply for a tourist visa at an Indian consulate abroad, you can only get a 6-month visa. Some consulates require proof of residency in their area of service so check in advance..
