Actually, my friends is coming to Nepal in April and he wants to hire a tour guide for the city tour and also going to Pokhara, Chitwan, and may be few other places. So, he wanted to know the cost of hiring a personal tour guide. I asked here in a Travel Agency and they have quoted me $25/day and if going out of valley then extra $10/day, and they also said that my friend has to bear all the expenses of the tour guide which include traveling cost, food and lodging too.

I can provide info about places, bus & taxi fares but never hired a tour guide before. So, asking little help here.

For professional English speaking guide $25 per day (full day sight seeing includes 4-5 sites) for half day (2-3 sites) $15 and for additional languages its about $35-$50 per day. And yes if out of valley they charge extra money and the expenses (lodging and foods/transport). Or you can go to the sites and find local guides approaching to travelers you can negotiate the price with them.
