Taxi from Sunauli to Varanasi

Be careful, as in many other border crossings, Sunauli is not a very honest place.

Yes - i did this about a month ago. I have the memory of a goldfish so i may get things wrong. We crossed the border at about 6am and got in a 4x4 to Gorakhpur train station. this cost us 2000rp (there were four of us). I'm sure it didn't take much more than 2 hours.
we tried to get a train to Varanasi and arsed around a little. the next train was late at night so we decided to carry on by taxi. We were very luck and had a great driver. the trip cost us 3500rp (we gave him an additional 500rp tip). The trip took 7 hours. Mind you, we did stop for 30min for lunch and we were caught in traffic for about 1hour.

Thanks alot for all your info. It's much obliged. Gonna see what works out for us as time is a bit tight and maybe a splurge here and there will free up some time.

Oh yeah, we arsed about quite a bit so you could do it quicker.
There is also a flight that goes from KTM to Varanasi. That could be an option.
