Hello, fellow travellers. I am planning a 2 week visit to Bangladesh and have a few questions for any recent visitors to this very interesting country.

Can you please tell me of your experiences traveling in the Sundarbans National Park? What comfort level is available on the various boats that make this journey? If you stay on on the boat over night is A/C necessary. How many days would an average traveller need to spend in the park? Can you book the trip from Khulna directly with the boat company or must it be organized through a tour operator?

HI Joseph, the facilities are almost same in some reputed tour companies. Usually a package tours set up for 4 days 3 nights. As the tour operates in between Aug- March, no need air con. The boat has sleeping cabins and western toilets. It is better to book earlier as the time may not match with your itinerary when you go Khulna. So, better check with some tour companies, check their schedule and book earlier.

Here such a tour takes USD 180-200 including entrance fee which is around USD 60 for 3 days. (Also accommodation, food, guiding end etc)

What comfort level is available on the various boats that make this journey?
@ Still now in Bangladesh , In sundarbans cursing boats has some basic facilities like common toilet, good local foods, non air conditioned, Electricity will be specially in the evening for recharging your cameras etc, but if you travel from Mid October to End of February, the weather is very comfortable to travel in sundarbans. so you don't need any AC facilities really.

How many days would an average traveler need to spend in the park?
@ if you want to start from Khulna, 2N/3D trip will be enough to explore the Sundarbans, covering Kotka & Kochikhali wild life area, most eastern part of sundarbans,
Most of the travel companies has some declared dates , so you have to match your dates to travel with them to travel to Sundarbans even joining from Khulna. here is the companies who has own boat here is their links:
