Sri Lanka vs. Kerala (Jan/Feb).Country forums / Indian Subcontinent / Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka vs. Kerala (Jan/Feb). I am looking for reasons to visit Sri Lanka as opposed to Kerala, India (in late January/February). My main interest lies in landscape photography, natural viewpoints/vistas, and inexpensive, quality local food. I am looking for pleasant weather as well, that's why I picked Sri Lanka/India (in winter time). From my research, there's not that many amazing pictures from Sri Lanka. Do you know how beautiful the country is post-tsunami? Thanks
I might not be able to photograph it very well, but just looking at the scenery amazes me every time I go. Rod. | 1
I'm a photographer and both places are good. Sri Lanka has a touch more diversity than Kerala I find, in terms of good views - you can get from jungle to montane forest to semi-desert within a day. Light, as ever in South Asia, is difficult to work with; mornings and evenings work best. Check out [Three Blind Men]http://pa.photoshelter.com/c/threeblindmen/gallery-list] for some Sri Lanka photography. Good stuff by good photographers. Food is awesome in Lanka - lots of curries (meat/fish/vegetable) and rice; pastries from snack shops (try the Malupaan - Fish buns); desserts (Watalappan is a cinnamony-coconutty pudding - very filling!). Also, if you've been to the bars, try the Lion Lager - they even have a Stout version - and then head home via a Kottu Rotty shop. It's chopped rotty bread and meat and vegetables all mixed into one. Might have to fly out there soon just for the food... | 2
Dunno what happened up there; the link is Three Blind Men. | 3
Hi, there really is no difference in the lovelyness of this island 'post-tsunami'. I took some pictures on the days following the Tsunami just to remember that lovelyness exists. you could also try the following link. it will lead you to a range of topics via the individual photographer's sites. All most all are Sri Lankan amatures.( how ever you spell that word!!) | 4
