Spending the night at the Delhi airport

Country forums / Indian Subcontinent

Arrive late in Delhi and fly out early to Gujarat. My travel agent (an Indian from there) said that by the time I get out and have to go back, it wouldn't be worth getting a hotel.

Therefore, what can I expect spending the night at the Delhi airport and the best and/or safest place to hang out? Should I go from the International to the domestic airport and hang out or wait at the Int'l one until I need to transfer? Basically which is better?

just stick around in the waiting area in for international arrivals and then transfer to domestic during daylight. if you don't have much luggage, there are small buses that are parked outside that transfer between the two terminals. they're not clearly visible so ask some people at the airport to point you to them (i.e. where the bus will come and park). they run once every 30 minutes or so. get on the bus and tell the driver which terminal you want to be dropped off. relatively easy from there.

happy travelling

The waiting area in for international arrivals is OK but the seats have railing between them, so no good for lying down, although I was lucky to score a row of three where some gorilla had forcibly removed them.

There should be some lounge that you can pay your way into. Don't know how strict of a budget you are on, but it might just be worth it, as comfort will be MUCH higher there.
