Sikh man travelling around pakistan.

Country forums / Indian Subcontinent / Pakistan

I am planning to travel to Pakistan perhaps next september. I'm a Singapore citizen. I am aware i would need visa. Planning to explore country side areas in Punjab region. Most importantly i would like to know is it safe for a Sikh to travel in Pakistan? Which areas should be avoided?

Absolutely safe for Sikhs. Infact people will wave to you with "Sat sriakal Saradrji" ;)
Just avoid North/South Waziristan and tribal areas near Afghanistan border. You can go without any security from China border to Islamabad. Lahore and all over Punjab and Sindh until Karachi. Street crimes are high in Sindh so be careful. If you go Baluchistan, you will need permission and required to keep a security guard (police officer) with you all around, its compulsory and free of cost (prefer not to go in Baluchistan, but for example if you come from Iran by road, you will be given security in Baluchistan).

Thanks for the reply mate! Would u know of anyone i could meet to explore around? I'm coming by flight.

As you are of Indian descent getting a Pak visa wil not be straightforward, I would suggest you check with the Pak embassy/consulate before making too many plans.

Pakistani Punjabi isn't the same as Indian Punjab, but there are more Sikhs than caucasian foreigners. So you'll be just fine
