Overstaying 1-2 days

Country forums / Indian Subcontinent / Nepal

Tomorrow I will be going to India with my Nepali visa expired on the 21st of March. I know the rules and just wanted to ask if 1-2 days of overstay is a big issue. I heard about people who were allowed to leave without having to pay any fees. I wanted to leave yesterday but I was left unable to walk after sustaining injury (that I took care of myself) for two days. Should I extend visa in Pokhara or go to border and in worst case I will just have to pay al required fees?

Hi,
I once overstayed by one day and they took me out of the line in the airport and had to pay a fine and visa extension fees. Not that much after all. Maybe they're more flexible at land borders. You might give it a try...

Ok so you are saying that in worst scenario you have to pay at the border? You don't have to come back to Kathmandu? I will give it a try, of course!

Well I don't know how they do at land borders.

I have flight from Calcutta to Kuala Lumpur on the 25th past midnight and then next day from Singapore to Darwin. If I go to Nepali border tomorrow and they force me to go to Kathmandu to extend my Visa then I will surely miss both flights. What is better? 30-40 dollars for extending Visa or hundreds of dollars for new flights? Should I take risks? Hmmm..

In that case I'd surely extend my visa as soon as possible, so you can travel without stress.
