Kashmir (Indian and Pakistani)

Country forums / Indian Subcontinent

Hi there,

I'm planning to go over India and Pakistan during summer.
I am a Canadian, and trying to figure out :
- what do I need to get both Kashmiri visa (Indian Kashmir visa and Pakistan Kashmire visa). Is there any visas requiered or just the official state visa is making it?
- Is there any specific location to get access over Kashmir? I heard Lahore, in Pakistan is the only point where it's possible to cross the frontier.
- And finnaly, I'm pretty sure it's obvious, but there is no way to cross the border between both Kashmir?

Thank you so much for your time and precisions.

Étienne

You'll need Indian visa and Pakistani visa. There're no separate visas for Kashmir.
Crossing the border overland won't be possible.
In India you can take a flight Delhi-Srinagar and in Pakistan Islamabad - Gilgit (or Skardu, depending on where you want to be).

Traffic over the Kashmiri Line of Control opened two days ago , had a brief closure after shootings across the border. This is locals only , after having been vetted in a security check - no chance for tourists or even other Indian nationals.
