Country forums / Indian Subcontinent / Pakistan

Katoora Lake which is also called Jahaz Dand in local language is situated in Dir, KPK, Pakistan. Total travel time from Islamabad, (Pakistan's Capital) is around 20 hours. This includes 12 hours of travel and then 8 hours of trekking from base camp (Jandrai/Zhandrai) till the lake. Trekking level is moderate. This lake is situated at an altitude of 3600m and is surrounded by high mountains covered with snow most of the times. Best season to visit this place is August/September. You can also visit during June/July but do expect random showers.

In this thread i shall be going to post the details about this expedition through text, my photographs and other video material. I shall also try to post details about various arrangements made for this trip and how did we move along.

Please keep in touch.

It is 27th June 2013, and we have started our journey from Rawalpindi around 9:00 PM. Our destination is Upper Dir main city. And we expect to reach there in 6-7 hours provided everything goes fine.

It is 6:00 AM and we have reached Upper Dir after whole night travel. Weather is very pleasant here and random showers are expected. Our next destination is Jandrai. In order to reach there, we have to hire a 4x4 jeep. So our search for appropriate vehicle at suitable rate begins.
