Hi,

I am heading to India in September and need to sort out a visa, i was just wondering what the best way to apply for one would be. I won't be able to go straight to the embassy so it's going to have to be online or by post. There seems to be loads of websites that offer this service, i'd just like some advice on which one to use etc. Some of the online applications seem so confusing, asking for referees and your address once in India etc?

Thanks in advance.

try this link....

http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk/

i went in person and got my visa posted back within 3 days, but i'm sure there's an option of sending the application by post for those with a little more time.

I know the UK types love to stand in line but consider that the visa preocess has been outsourced in the UK (to a foreign firm since May 29). Its partly online. Check that possibility out. VFS, as above, is the name of the firm and you might as well go direct..
