How can I drive from Uzbekistan to India

Does anyone have a tourist route for getting from Uzbekistan to India by private vehicle.
I have been advised the border of Pakistan is now closed.
I cant seem to find any alliterative.
Does anyone know of a road in reasonable condition that would make this journey possible?

China is NOT an option due to the logistical problems associated with it.

Only through Pakistan at Wagah. Take a look at a map because if it means Iran & visa issues..

Only Torkham and Chaman borders are closed for foreigners for the in/out from/towards Afghanistan, so no entry and exit but Wagah, Taftan and Sust are open for foreign travelers .

If you have Iranian visa or can get Iranian visa then the only option is to drive your vehicle through Iran then cross into Pakistan and then enter to India via Wagaha border which is open. Also keep in mind you need Carnet De Passage for your vehicle.

Almost most no option while driving from Uzbekistan to India,both Afghanistan & China options re closed,I don't see any other way around so forget about it.

KKH option is still open so as Khunjerab pass, that'd be closed on the 31st of December as usual and opened on the 1st of May annually .

You can try Taftan, Wagah and Sust.

There are only two options from Uzbekistan: Going through China via Khunjerab Pass, which is very expensive, but possible (I went this route) or going from Uzbekistan via Turkmenistan to Iran and then via Zahedan/Taftan to Pakistan. For Turkmenistan you get only a short time Transitvisa

6 is rigtht. The only way without going through China is to go through Turkmenistan, Iran, and then Pakistan. If you are already in Uzbekistan this will be very difficult. Aside from getting an İranian visa, and a Turkmen transit visa (neither of which are the easiest) you'll still need the Pakistan visa which can only be applied for in your home country...or possibly country of residence.

All in all, the logistical problems assocaited with driving in China might amount less than the other option.

6 & 7 sum it up.

You have 2 options:

1.
Turkmenistan - Iran - Pakistan - India
You can only get Pakistan visas in your home country
You would need to get the Iran visa before you applied for the Turkmen transit visa.

2.
Uzbek- Kyrgyzstan-China-Pakistan-India
You need to go through a Chinese agent for the Chinese section.
Khunjerab Pass is shut from Dec-April
Pakistan visa needs to be got in home country.

People have done both routes before but both will be expensive and take time to organise.

The first route is much cheaper and you should get your Turkmenistan Visa if you have the Iranian one. Going through China is very expensive (I think we spent around 1500,- EUR for 4 days in China between Irkeshtam and Khunjerab Pass). There are almost no logistical problems in China, you have to do nothing, you just have to pay a lot of money to the agency and then everything is organized.

I do not know how the rules are now in Pakistan, three years ago it was possible to get a visa at the border post in Sost. But I read somewhere that the rules changed.

VOA in Sost hasn't been possible for almost two years now.

yes arrival visa is not possiable in sost now a days...

A further problem with the route through China is that you will travel through Xinjiang province, and the Chinese authorities usually reject applications that include this region in the itinerary.This is one (but only one) of the reasons it's difficult to get a visa for China in Central Asia.

It is not necessary to mention it when applying for a visa or if you have booked an official itinerary for travelling with a car, you will not have any problems. I got the visa without problems in Tashkent

Can I ask what makes it so expensive going through China? Is this route possible by public transport?

It's expensive to take a private vehicle into China because you need permits and to engage a guide to accompany you with your vehicle. Public transport is relatively cheap and easy to find.

But if you're thinking about going to Kashgar or elsewhere in Xinjiang province you must give no indication of this on your visa application. So don't mention that you are entering or leaving China via Pakistan or a Central Asian country.

When entering China by public transport it is important to know that you need a permit for crossing the Torugart Pass. If you take the Irkeshtam Pass up from Sary Tash it is easier. I went both passes, both are beautiful
