help in Kolkata

Hello,

I am going to be working in Kolkata for a few months and staying at the Sheraton hotel at 1 Halden Avenue, lucky me I know. However, the weather is going to be very hot and I will need to do laundry often. Does anyone know where I can find a laundry matt near by as service at the hotel is pretty expensive or any other alternatives. Also, how is the area around the hotel, any malls or decent restaurants near by? What should I expect on the daily costs in terms of food as hotel is paid for? Any info would be much appreciated.
