Hi everybody!
I'm desperately looking for tips and advice about my addictment to travelling. What to do when you want to go abroad, but you know you have to stay home for at least half a year...
I don't think i'm the only one, so please...help me :-)

I dream, I plan, and I save my money. Of course, I don't really have a 'home' so it's relatively easy for me to treat all of daily life on the same level (I don't split the travel vs nontravel thing).

Seasonal work is the key. Start thinking of what you can do to make money for part of the year. What part of the year do you want to travel? Work at circus? fairs? a friend of mine made tons of money with a chip truck. All sort of options. The best is start your own seasonal business that why you know what you'll be doing next year, instead of arrive home broke and with out direction.
There's always import/export or even a online business would be ideal.

Hi
What I do is learn the language of the country i will be heading to the next time. It takes me quite a few months to get comfortable with it and allows me to plan my trip, learn about the culture and enjoy much better my stay by being able to talk to the people in their own language. If i know already the official language, i try to learn a 'local language' like Quetchua besides Spanish in SA.

Find a job requires extensive traveling. You will get sick of it in a few years.
Bt, it starts working for me. =P

choose a country (one you have been to or want to go to) and create a meal from that country. We did this after we got back from travelling - tried to do a different country each week. add some music from the region and keep those dreams or memories alive!

Think of a country that you would go say 6 months from now.

So you have 6 months to plan.
Ask yourself HOW LONG can you be there ?
BUY a guidebook on that country.
READ about all the places.
Not enough photos on that guidebook, no problem, browse for more photos on Internet.

Ask question on Internet, get in touch with local people on internet.
Book your flight on Internet.
Make use of Internet !!!!!!!! :)

SAVE MONEY for that trip.

BUT then a few days before you start your trip...violence (war, bombing, kidnapping etc etc ) happens in that country !
Floods, tsunami, forest fire etc etc etc can also happen to that country that you wanna go !

WHAT WOULD YOU DO ????

You still wanna go ?
Wait until everything ease down, errr, like WHEN ??
OR take out all your saving & buy a new mobile phone, a new iPod, a hut...or just visiting that very quiet neighbourhood a few miles away from your place !!!???? :) :)

Travel, like life....is all about making choices !
