I dod Jiri to EBC and back to Lukla, just myself and a guide/porter, in September 2006. Went through company. A UK company but dealt directly with their Kathmandu office and received excellent service, and at a good price!

Mention to him that you want a guide. Rame, Recham and Shera are excellent porter-guides. They act as guides, but can carry your bag as well if needed.

I know he is at the moment in the Annapurnas, so maybe it will take him some days to answer you, but it really worth it, believe me!
I met him in Tengboche (Everest region), he was with and old and famous writer coming down from the Everest Base Camp, the writer has travelled around the world the last 50 years, and he told me, Raj was the best guide he had ever had. I know it is true! I met him in Kathmandu afterwards, he is really a nice guy!
