First time to Visit ManaliCountry forums / Indian Subcontinent / Pakistan
Hi all, This is my first time to visit Manali between mid of octobet to november end. Which will be a better time to visit? can i found snow around manali ? Roghthan pass will be opened that time? or else i can find snow in some other places? plan to stay 3 days in manali . please give me some idea?
manali should be open during that time, But i see any remote possibility of snow at that time. Happy visit | 1
Don't make the mistake of staying near the bus stand in 'new Manali', get up to the back end of 'old Manali' where you will find much cheaper rooms in amongst the orchards and a much more peacefull enviroment. | 2
First snows over the Rohtang earliest in September , burns quickly away in the midday sun. First chances of more permanent snow in October : one snapshot in time from late October here . I crossed the Rohtang and went up to Leh four days later. | 3
You may be pushing to find snow at that time. It would be possible to take a day journey through Rhotang Pass (which means "pile of dead bodies" pass), and do a visit to one of the mountain view areas. I'd be reluctant to do that journey at anytime snow is around - the road are treacherous enough as it is. And as #2 suggests, get a hotel room away from the bus depots - you will need something away from the noisy part of town. | 4
" I'd be reluctant to do that journey at anytime snow is around - the road are treacherous enough as it is." When the weather turns you get an idea why the name ( plain , not pile, of corpses ) came up. One more sad example , late November ( which became the final closing of the road that year). | 5
