Fake stones in Sri Lanka

Please use extreme caution on purchasing "rubies" in Sri Lanka. I went to two different nice stores one next to a beautiful Eco Lodge and another around the island. Guarantees were given to me from the store and the Government, came home and needed an alteration in the earrings, 3 carat rubies, guess what.....fake all the way through, also the ring. My friend also purchased and fake on hers as well. Please unless you know what you are buying do NOT trust any jeweler in Sri Lanka. Shopping at two stores is enough for me to know " buy local" if you want jewelry in your own country.

there are two of them one on Colombo and the other next to a beautiful hotel Heritance Kandalama wonderful hotel but DON't shop for Jewelry unless you want a fake~!~~~~

Some how they claim to have sold Prince Charles a stone for Princess Diana, i wonder if that was a fake too
