Ella to Yala to Galle in one day?

Country forums / Indian Subcontinent / Sri Lanka

We're going to be staying in Ella. We want to do the Yala safari one day. Will we be able to find a driver to take us from Ella to Yala, do the safari, and then find a driver from Ella to Galle?

Will the timing be ok or is this too much to fit in one day?

Any guesses on cost would be appreciated. Thanks!

"Yala National Park is expected to be closed again this year, from September 1 to October 15. It is the height of the annual drought in the area but Park officials also use the time to attend to development work." - in http://www.yalasrilanka.lk/

Thank you! I like to think I'd have figured that out eventually, but you saved me a lot of googling :)

We have just come back from Sri Lanka on an Intrepid Trip and had to go to a different National Park, because Yala was closed. Personally thing the safari are a bit a bush- bashing exercise and not environmentally sound. One day is not enough to do a safari and Galle; we spend two nights in Galle - could have stayed longer, depends how much time you have and what are your interests.
