Chances of Treks Taking longer than Planned

Country forums / Indian Subcontinent / Pakistan

Hello again. I am wondering what other would do. I have myself leaving Islamabad at 0400am on a Sunday morning for an intl flighthome, . If I get a flight from Skardu I would arrive in Islamabad on a Friday. If I have to go overland, I would arrive Saturday according to schedule. Has anyone been on a trek which finished later than the scheduled date? Ive been assured I have plenty of time getting back by the company but Im still a bit nervous about potentially missing a flight and having to buy a last minute ticket back.I know anything can happen, no guarantees. I also prefer not to spend more time in Islamabad then necessary.. Would appreciate advice.....thx,, avsfan

I was in a similar situation last year in september on K2 trek. u will have plenty of time to get back as we found out. normally on the way back, u r more acclimatized and since ints downhill, u can do more distance and arrive early to hushe or askoli. having said that, there are always unknowns, like 2009 floods that can wash away bridges and roads and leave u stranded in skardu.

Try to get the flight/road transport on Thursday if you worried.
