Gees!!!~ anywhere but Varanasi,what a shithole!!!
We drove across India from Delhi a couple months ago via ,rental car 3 share,works out with all extras taxes tolls and corruption at about $70 a day all up share between the number of pax.,not including the goddam tip.
Cops in Uddar Pradesh are corrupt,and always harassing our driver for money,and the very primative populace look more like they want to kill you than be friends.
In the north of UP at the time hindus were killing Moslems and vice versa,and the army was called out..Its a stinking filthy dangerous state.
Avoid if possible.
My opinion,India is still a shithole,and it has only got worse since my very first visit in the 60,s. not better as time would usually dictate.
Contary to that opinion,I will always recommend the civilised enjoyment of the state of Goa, fortunatley the Portaguese control of the colony for hundreds of years has made it another world,and safe clean and visitor friendly.
Kerala is also a highly educated state,and safe to travel.
Just my opinion OK,but its the truth.
