August weather-conflicting reports

I can only go during August and really would prefer to go to the East coast, some reports say it's fine others saying you should avoid and go East? Hoping someone can clarify this for me? What is the weather like?

The weather during August is fine. I have been travelling to Sri Lanka every year during August. It's hot and humid, but that is the typical weather in Sri Lanka. Hope that helps!
