9 days itinerary in Rajasthan Agra and delhi

Country forums / Indian Subcontinent / India

I have already booked the intercontinental flight to and from Delhi. We will have 9 full days to spend in northern India during next Christmas time.

I have put down the following planning (we think to hire a driver):

  • leave immediately Delhi to reach Agra . Visit Taj Mahal . Night in Agra

  • Agra fort , leave to visit fatephur Sikri and finally reach Jaipur in the evening . Night in Jaipur

  • visit amber in the morning, Jaipur City palace in the evening. Night in Jaipur

  • long drive towards udaipur. Night in udaipur. Any tips where to stop here? Chittorgarh or Pushkar for a 2/3 hour stop before continuing to drive to udaipur

  • full day and night in udaipur

  • Ranakpur and Jodhpur. Night in Jodhpur

  • drive to Jaisalmer. Visit of the city palace in the afternoon. Night in Jaisalmer

  • a couple of hour in the morning for other visits and then take a flight leaving at 12:45 to Delhi . Night in Delhi

  • full day to visit Delhi . Night in Dehli

What do you think about it? Is it quite balanced ? Thanks for your tips and comments

That's a punishing schedule. You will constantly be moving. You should select 2 or 3 destinations and see them well.

What time does your flight arrive? Is this a Friday?

You don't have time for a stop of 2-3 hours if you intend to make Udaipur. And certainly not Pushkar. Chittorgarh has a fine fort, but you'll be seeing forts everywhere else. Bundi perhaps. You and the driver will need to stop for lunch in any case.

  • drive to Jaisalmer. Visit of the city palace in the afternoon. Night in Jaisalmer

The palace in Jaisalmer fort is not worth the effort. Spend your time exploring the fort.

That's a punishing schedule. You will constantly be moving. You should select 2 or 3 destinations and see them well. MOST OF PROPOSED TOURS REPLICATE AN ITINERARY WITH MANY TOWNS TO COVER. We know that we will get just a glimpse of this region and in each town we will have to drop to see something.. but India is so large and we cannot spend all our holidays to visit the most of it.
I am not thinking to drop Delhi and add one more day elsewhere even though we have the return intercontinental flight at 4am on day 10 and leaving one full day in Delhi make me more comfortable to manage any flight cancellation / delay from Rajasthan >

yes it is a Friday. I land at around 2 am and we are thinking to go to an aerocity hotel to get some rest for 5/6 hours before leaving for Agra.

I know that one more day in udaipur would be required to visit more sights

thanks. Having to make some choices I will take your tip in consideration

You must visit Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary on your way from Agra to Jaipur. You will need 2 to 3 hours. Its a well known tourist spot.
