No Indian visas are available at the Airport. You will have to go to the Indian embassy.

Just returned from a 16 month round the world trip that included 4 months in India and Nepal. We got our 6 month multiple entry India Tourist visas in Laos (we are UK citizens) and it was only when we read this blog that we became concerned that we wouldn’t be able to return to India after a 3 week side trip to Nepal. . . but in the end there were no problems and no additional paperwork was required.

Initially I contacted the Indian visa service in the UK and they said we would need a letter to re-enter India from Nepal, from the advice given on this blog I didn’t believe them so contacted FRRO/Delhi frrodli@nic.in and got a reply to say “60 days rule is not applicable for visit to Nepal.” however when I asked for a confirmation web site they sent me a link to www.immigrationindia.nic.in but I couldn’t find any reference to the 60 day rule not applying to Nepal. When we left Delhi airport for Nepal I asked the immigration officer if we would had a problem re-entering and he said that the 60 day rule did not apply to Nepal, we returned to Delhi 3 weeks later without any problems and were not even asked for evidence of our itinerary.
