hello, i am travelling to Sri Lanka next week and i am needing to do a few day trips from Colombo such as Sigiriya and uda Walawe NP and i wanted to know how easy is it to find a driver on the street over there for a negotiated day rate to these destinations. Or is this something i should organise before i leave? Not keen to book through my hotel as i imagine this would be the most expensive option? If you have any suggestions for drivers that would be great also. Thanks in advance

I plan to spend 3 days 2 nights in Colombo before heading to Nuwara Eliya for a 5days 4 nights stay by train. The "5days" included the 2 days on the road travelling from and to Colombo, so indeed I only have 3 days in N/E!

Since I plan to leave Colombo for N/E on day 3 after my arrival in Colombo, do I need to pre-book my train ticket? Currently I'm looking at www.exporail.ik. if this operator is reliable?

Booked flights for September, for the beginning of my 6 month career break. Sri Lanka okay weather wise? Bit late now but just a little warning would be good.

Also where is the best place to stay after I land? I'm thinking I'll ease myself into the traveling malarkey maybe stay at a mid range beach hotel for 2 nights before slumming it in hostels for 1 night in the same area before I move on to explore the island..... Maybe Nagombo?

I'm currently in the planning stages of my holiday next year, provisionally March or April since they seem to be the best months from what research tells me. I've narrowed my choices down to Sri Lanka for 2 weeks (I'll be a female solo traveller). Is it possible to do the Adams Peak climb starting from Nuwara Eliya in the small hours to get to the ascent for sunrise?

Basically we are travelling from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya in the morning to spend the day there and then onto Adam's Peak to climb that following night/morning. My ideal would be to stay in NE and then climb but perhaps it's best to just spend the day there and then move on to the town closer to Adam's peak to start our climb.
