This July I will be travelling to Sri Lanka. My plane will arrive in the evening and next day I would like to transfer to Ella as quickly as possible. I want to skip Colombo, but I don't know if it's logical. I'm wondering if there is any sort of direct transportation from Negombo to Ella, or is evertyhing going via Colombo?
Can someone please also tell me, what would be the approx. price of hiring a taxi to Ella (from Negombo or Colmbo) and what's the travel time difference when using…
I am a solo female traveller arriving in Sri Lanka from the 11th July. I have a surf camp booked for 23rd of July as this is my main interest but will be alone for the first 2 weeks of my trip and keen to explore and meet people along the way. I wondered if anyone could give me tips on booking accomodation to facilitate meeting others with similar plans? And also whether basing my trip on the west/south coast this time of year would still be ok providing it is still the end of monsoon season?

We are travelling in Sri Lanka in july and august. Does somebody have experience with Yala and Kumana? The repports about Yala being very crowded does not sound to attractive, but on the other hand it is also described as a must do.
Is Kumana maybe a better option? Less crowded but similar NP?

Hello, i would just like to ask if you guys think its worth going to Minneriya NP in the 1st week of July or is it really only worth seeing it in Aug/Sep? I will likely also visit Uda Walawe NP and possibly Yala NP during my visit to Sri Lanka. I would love to see lots of Elephants. thanks for any reply
During our trip to Sri Lanka this summer we would like to see the Esala Perahera in Kandy. Any suggestions on where and how to have a good view without paying the expensive seats offered online?
Do as the locals and take a seat hours before the parade? Last minute tickets ? Private balconies for a lower price?

Just booked a trip and the dream is a beachside Cabana on a beach for surfing. Seems like October surfing is limited the east of the island ... Argum Bay? However, I've heard it's quite touristy in places? If we do go to argum bay I'd prefer a tuk tuk away from the hussle and bustle somewhere with a really chilled vibe

Me and my brother have been exploring for about 3 weeks. We've done hill country, the cultural triangle and are currently negotiating our way towards Jaffna for a few days.
