Hi everyone,
My boyfriend and I spent about a month in Sri Lanka in July, so I figured I'd share our itinerary and budget in case it might help anyone planning a trip!
We are budget travellers, so we avoid big restaurant, preferring local eateries, and used public transport as much as possible. Also, we've been traveling for 6 months so our pace is slower than a normal vacation.

Here's for the itinerary:
Negombo (2 nights) much cheaper than Colombo, but easy to access and closer to airport

Is it possible to go into a travel agent in Colombo and book a trip to Maldives leaving within a few days? I have 8 free days while in Sri Lanka in October so thinking about Maldives.

I have just tried to apply for my ETA online and the payment keeps failing. It says it is the banks verification/authentication process, but I have called the bank (Barclays in the UK) and they say there is no problem their end. Is anyone else having any problems??

My friend and I are planning to visit Sri Lanka in Septebmer this year for 2 weeks.
We will be starting in Negombo / Colombo, then direction to Kandy and later on in the south (beaches).

Can anyone recommend me a good and interesting two week route (including sightseeeing, train rides, beaches)?

Shall I engage a driver or i can take a tuk-tuk or public bus there?

Myself and my fiancee are getting married on the 10th August 2017 and are planning to go on our honeymoon for 2 weeks departing between 12-14th August 2017. We have never been to Sri Lanka before, however we have heard some good things about it. We have no idea about areas to stay or if the weather would be warm and preferably with minimal rain at this time of year? We are not looking for an overly active holiday, nice beaches, pool and some good restaurants and bars to visit would be nice…

Anyone there know a good drive in Nilaveli(Trincomalee). We are going to Negombo and only need the driver for that.
