Hello... I am traveling in Sri Lanka (January) and looking for a secluded beach which is not crowded with tourists and not built up, and where the sea is not too rough? It is fine if the place is isolated. Any idea? I read east and north have the most secluded beaches but in January is not the good period to go.
Thank you!
I can only visit in the summer, I have seen weather is better on the east coast when compared to the west although I can't seem to find much info about the south. We would like somewhere with a good selection of restaurants, bars, tours etc that is reasonably tourist friendly, would the east be appropriate or is it too off the beaten track? Any info about the south would be great too.
Thank you in advance

We (my wife and I) are travelling in Sri Lanka in February and have read that the train journey Kandy to Ella is a must. I wish to book in advance from England but I am having difficulty in finding an up to date timetable. Also which train is recommended? Is it worth doing the trip in 2 goes, staying at Nuwara Eliya for a few days before going on to Ella?
Any help would be appreciated

We're a London couple who will be shortly be spending three weeks in Sri Lanka. We've confirmed our itinerary and accommodation and would love to hear of any tips you may have for the areas we'll be visiting (see below). Outside of lunch in Colombo's Ministry of Crab on our first day and a train from Ella to Kandy we've nothing set in stone and would love to hear any of your highlights or lessons learned. As we all sit glumly at our desks, please relive your memories…
Hi,
We are staying overnight near the airport on the evening of our arrival into SL and then need to get to Sigiriya the next day. We will be using public transport - I assume buses for this route. Any tips on the best way to get there? How easy is it? Will we have to go elsewhere to commence our journey? Do you know roughly how long it will take? I'm guessing around 4-5 hours?
Thanks in advance for any advice/tips!

Hello travellers,
I will be arriving in Sri lanka on the 11th of Jan and will have 11 days to explore. I am travelling alone with my 18mth old son and wondered about the best way of getting around. There are some train rides that shouldn't be missed (kandy to Ella, any others?) but other than that am I best to get a driver for the period of my stay? If so, approx how much should this cost per day or for the whole trip? (Does anyone have any recommendations of good drivers is this is the way to…
