I totally agree with the last post. It expresses very much the feelings I have on this subject as a whole. For me it's been all a long more about human rights and freedom of speech in general, not taking a stand on any side.

How can anyone by the way tell what other people feel, and what they don't feel? The person throwing mud here was not there in Colombo, when a friend came back from the hospital after saying a farewell to the journalist mentioned here.

I understand that there is still a lot of hatred and fear. There is no culture of openness and transparency. I hope that wisdom and compassion will win in the end. I believe that everyone still has a chance to win here, and those who died in this struggle, may they rest in peace.

Of course that I must be the only person expressing a different view to all the other posts here. Then you say that my view is one sided and that I am the only propagandist in this forum. Then what about your other side my friends. You are the people who are talking about the freedom of expression.Don t you think that it s always better to have two sides, so the sensible readers can have have a balanced view.
I may be the first person who was against using this forum for political propaganda which had been happening for a long time.I have no faith at all in politics or media in your country or in my country. We are so much fed up with these two things in our countries and we are not coming to your country to learn more about it.we also have enough of these discriminations in our countries disguised in different forms, under the mask of democracy and diplomacy.it is very sad how our developed countries use these same issues to interfere and discriminate small nations like yours. My only request from you is not to try to force your politics on the ordinary travellers like us.

This article is old news but it is still awful. Everyone should have the right to freedom of speech, and no one should get killed for expressing that right.

On the other hand, I see so much hypocrisy specially from the west with regards to human rights especially at a time of war in Sri Lanka. I don't see any war crimes tribunals for crimes committed by Israeli's against Palestinians or locking people up in gitmo without any trials. UN human rights council ruled out any action against Sri Lankan government today. After 26 years of war, last thing they want is a war crimes tribunal. Let the country recover.

As a westerner I am ashamed of the double standards and the dirty games of our politicians.Human rights has become a political weapon to dominate third world countries. It must be the new version of colonization in the present era.We are trying to teach values to the East where every thing is based on money and power in the west.we are just projecting our dark shadows on to the others. You are the bad ones.We are very clean.
