Hello!
My boyfriend and I are going to make a two week trip to Sri Lanka from the 27th of april until the 12 of May. We are trying to decide between to different routes that give us some beach time on the last few days. We are in doubt between going to Tangalle or the beaches around Trincomalee. Tangalle seems really nice, but we are not sure about the weather in May and we also heard a lot of great things about the east coast. We aren't surfers, so we don't need the best waves.
Now, we planned two routes and wonder which one is best or if there are even better alternatives. We are using public transport.
First Route
28 April: arriving at airport and traveling to Kandy
29 April – 2 may : Habarana (to see Sigiriya, Dambulla, Polonnaruwa)
3 May: Kandy for train to Ella
4 – 6 May: Ella
7-10 May: Tangalle
11 May: travelling to Colombo
12 May: flight back home
Second route
28 April: arriving at airport and traveling to Kandy
29 April – 1 may: Ella
2 May: Kandy
3 – 6 May: Habarana (to see Sigiriya, Dambulla, Polonnaruwa)
7-10 May: Beaches around Trincomalee
11 May: travelling to Colombo
12 May: flight back home
We also want to do one safari. Is it better to go to Udawalawe National Park or Minneriya National Park at that time of the year.
Thanks in advance!
