I have a trip to Colombo planned. Does anybody have any idea about limitations on carrying Cigarettes into SL and whether the International Airport has a smoking area? Anything that I should avoid or be aware of apart from the normal?

I suggest you google this for more detail. There seems to be the law and then what travellers actually experience.
What I read is that smoking is banned in many public places. There are smoking rooms at airport and you can smoke in some hotel rooms.
I also read that you are not allowed to bring cigarettes into SL.
I read up a lot online but the official websites of Sri Lanka don't warn against it. Thanks for confirming anyway! Are you also aware of the restrictions on carrying LKR into Sri Lanka?
