Taxi Transfer Trincomalee to Nallathanniya

Hello,

So after some poor planning from my part (!) I have to travel from Trincomalee to Nallathnniya direct. The night train is an last ditch option but I'd really rather not!

I have had varying quotes from tour $260, $200, with the cheapest so far being $137. These are usually based in colombo/Kandy etc so are obvsiously charging for the empty miles from and back to their base so a local company to Trinco of Nallathanniya region will be cheaper. Does anyone have reccomendations for a reputable company? I have emailed a few Trinco ones Ive found online, but a reccomendation would be good.

Have you tried your hotel for a car? Or try asking one of the drivers hanging around outside.

Bit confused by the night train. That goes to Colombo.

Cheaper than car all the way would be bus to Kandy, then car from there.

That's a fair treck - either ask your hotel when you're in Trinco or bus to Kandy and then either bus or train to Ginigathhena (buses will be more frequent) and arrange a taxi/tuk tuk from there to Nallathaniya. By car it will take most of the day - by bus I think you may have to stay overnight somewhere.

Yes it would be night train to colombo then another train from there! Will look into the bus!

Yes, it is not an ideal route..! I have asked our air bnb to see if they can get a cheaper quote :)

Hi Skuce,

Trinco to Nallathanniya is not a common travel route. Hence you would not be able to find a cheaper offer. Best thing is to ask from the hotel. Anyway it is around 270 km and will take 7 to 8 hrs to reach.
