Surf locations in SouthCoast

Arugam bay would be the best place for surfing. But that is in the east coast.

I was in Mirissa in March and there was a quite a big surf scene there. Whether it is good in December, I don't know. Beware as Mirissa is a very popular place and accommodation will probably be scarce or expensive in Dec.

I was in Arugam Bay in late Feb and it was dead. Definitely not the season. I imagine it is worse in Dec.

If you are seriously interested in surfing then I am sure there are better places to get info than here.

It was in Mirissa that I realised how boring surfing is. I watched people paddle out about half a km to the break area. They then sit on their boards for 10 minutes waiting for a wave. One comes, catch it if you are lucky and whoosh it's all over. Paddle back out and start your wait again. Ho hum.

Weligama Beach Break , Lazy Lefts and Lazy Rights , Gurubebila Coconut Point , Kabalana , Rams , Hikkaduwa Reef , Mirissa Beach Break are the best surf locations in South Coast.
