Hey all,

I'm going to be in Sri Lanka for about two weeks and then over to the Maldives. Does anyone have a great driver/transportation connection that I can hire for the whole time to drive me all over Sri Lanka? Hopefully fairly priced?

How-many of you? Are you looking for luxury or a economy car?

I went all over Sri Lanka for about three weeks with my parents this past February. We had three different drivers during the trip and I think it can really affect the quality of your experience if you have a bad driver. By far the best driver we had was Rukhshan. He first picked us up in Tangalle and took us through Haputale, Ella, Kandy, Anuradhapura, and back to Colombo. His English is very good and he was wonderful with my parents. Super sensitive to their needs throughout the whole trip. When my mom and I really wanted to go to a spa in Ella, he suggested taking my dad on a hike while we were getting our treatments. I thought he was extremely fairly priced at around $45/day including all meals, accommodations, and driving fees.

I really don't think it is necessary to have a driver while you are in Colombo or Galle. The train ride from Colombo to Galle is beautiful and pretty convenient. But for all the other destinations we went to, it made life so much easier with a driver.

Hi All!!!
I'm in Sri Lanka at the moment ;)
We are 2 girls and we are travelling with Asanka, he is a driver, and I really suggest him. Honest, kind, polite, well-organised and extremely flexible! He is a Safari driver too. He has been working as a driver for 12 years! Impressive how many things he knows. If you are looking for a guide that could be a real friend too, contact him! He can speak English really good.
