Negombo Guesthouse with pool suitable for famililes

We are a family of 4 (kids will be 9 &10) and arriving into Colombo in August 2018. As Negombo is closer to the airport we are looking for recommendations for a budget guesthouse/B&B ideally with a pool for us to spend a few days chilling & acclimatizing. If airport pickup is included that would be great but not essential!

A|so, after Negombo we are planning on travelling up to Dambulla/Sigiriya - what is the best way to get there? as we have kids with us - can you tell me if there is a direct bus/train from Negombo or would it be best to maybe get a car with a driver to take us? if so, recommendations would be fab.

Hi Hannah
Thanks for this - they look very beautiful - however not quite within our price bracket as we are looking for budget accommodation especially as we are a family of 4. Our max price would be up to USD50 per night total but ideally a bit cheaper.

Check out booking.com with your dates and filter for with pool, but your budget is pretty low for a hotel with a pool in Negombo. Most hotels will be able to sort out a transfer from the airport but we found it was cheaper to go to the desk at the airport and get a taxi it was 1300 two years ago , and the hotels were asking for minimum 1800. Of course you can also take a bus. For Dambulla/Sigiriya you could pay for a transfer or take the train from Negombo to Colombo Fort and change there for the train to Harbanara, then a short transfer to Sigiriya or Dambulla. The train journey whilst not the most spectacular in the country is certainly very nice.

We stayed in Palms Villa a few months ago. It has a small pool, but is a few km from the beach. It was fine for us as we just wanted somewhere to rest and get over jet-lag.

Hi,
we stayed in Sea Breeze Inn, (booking.com). Nice and quiet place. There is no pool.
BUT they cooperate with chique hotel with very nice pool on the beach. You can enter for 2€ pp/day.
AND they arrange airport pickup (17 USD/car).
They also have affordable private transport facilities. Just check.
