We can only visit Sri Lanka at the end of August to mid September. We planned to go to Galle and around, but can't figure out if the Monsoon is full force or just afternoon showers? Advice would be appreciated - we can go East instead, but this the area we would most like to visit. Cheers!

Hi, we went to this area in the second half of August and got exactly twenty minutes of rain the whole time we were there. I'm not saying you'll be as lucky, but I think the monsoon is getting really light by then.

The monsoon has proven to be utterly unpredictable. Roll the dice and change itinerary if necessary..

Have a look here https://weather-and-climate.com/average-monthly-Rainfall-Temperature-Sunshine,galle,Sri-Lanka

August doesn't look too bad. Only 15 rain days in the month on average, but as said above, weather has been a bit unpredictable recently.
