My boyfriend and I are travelling to Sri Lanka in January. We are planning the first half of our trip. Can someone please help me - does this look sensible so far?

Day 1 Galle
Day 2 Galle to Ella by train (is this possible? or should we go from Colombo?)
Day 3/4 Climb Adams Peak and relax in Ella
Day 5 Go to Nuwara Eliya
Day 6 Safari Udalwalawe National Park
Day 7 Udalwalawe National Park
After that go to the beaches in the South

I'm confused as to where to stay out of Ella, Hatton and Nuwara Eliya. We want to climb Adams Peak and also relax and enjoy the tea fields. We also want to take the train ride.

Thanks!

Day 2 : not practical by train, You may have to take couple of buses, There may be a direct bus to Ella which you need to talk with local people
Day 3 : Ella has the little A'peak not the real one,
real A'peak in in Maskeliya so it is more easily doable before or after Nuwara Eliya
Day 6: you should put this before Ella after Galle so logical order would be Galle - Udawalawa - Ella

Hello,

As I understand by looking at what you've mentioned : You will be staying the first night in Galle. Is that so ? will you be coming to Galle straight out of the airport ? ( not clear to me on that point ).

If it's not, the best thing would be to :

Take the train to Hatton from Colombo. Then by bus / tuk tuk or taxi to Dalhousie where you can find a lot of accommodation places to stay. ( Dalhousie is where you should be staying if you plan on climbing Adam's peak ).

Take the bus or taxi to Nuwara eliya or train to Nanu oya from Hatton ( from Nanu oya, you have to get a bus to Nuwara eliya : it's only a very short distance ).

Nuwara eliya to Ella is possible by train as well as by bus. But I recommend the train journey.

Ella to Uda walawe by bus or taxi.

Uda walawe to south beach by bus or taxi.

From Hatton to Ella, it's all tea fields along the way.

If you wish to get further details, PM me.

Linton Fernando.

Ella is very overrated, I would stay at Haputale amd hike to Lipton's Seat instead. The Little Adams Peak at Ella is not the real

.... deal. The big mountain is accessed thru Hatton.

No plan for Sigiriya?
