I'm probably stopping off in Sri Lanka on my way eastwards. I like to spend time in countries and in particular, I like to visit the Unesco sites. Do you think a month is enough, or not enough, or maybe too much?

You will never have enough time but on arrival you will get a 30 day visa. Any longer and you have to go to the trouble of renewing it. That may be a good reason to stay a month!

A month is a good amount of time to get a mix of hill country, beach and ancient cities. The most time consuming thing is travelling across the country - although it might only look like a few km on a map all transport is slow. Bear this in mind when you plan your route and you should be fine.

If you don't want to visit the beaches on the south coast, or the hill country, and just want to stay up north for the cultural triangle, then 1 month is too long.
