Hi Dave,
I recently returned from a week in Malaysia, a week in Thailand,, 3 weeks in Cambodia and 4 weeks in Sri Lanka.

Over all, Cambodia was by far the cheapest for accommodation , food , drink and inland transport.
Thailand ( Bangkok ) and Malaysia ( Kuala Lumpur ) I found to be about the same as Sri Lanka for guest houses and inland transport but both cheaper for food and drink.

No idea regarding India but from communications I've had with Indian travellers they seem to find Sri Lanka relatively expensive,

Rod.

I had traveled to Rameshwaran in 1956, when the South Indian Railway operated the Ferry Service from Talaimannar Pier, and it was NO tin-can, but a far cry from SCOTIA PRINCE, which is a luxury cruiser. GOSL hopes to restart this Talaimanna-Rameshwaran service too.

Just by digression , Ach82000 was right in reply #17 Sri Lanka didn't get TV till 1979 . However fast forward to the present and I don't think the British Channel 4 documentary about the final stages the war will be shown on Sri Lankan TV.
