Thanks to all those who provided information to my last posting. Does anyone have recommendations on a place to stay in Dambulla? Is it the best place to use as a base when traveling through the sites of that region? Prefer to use my time exploring a site rather that commuting to and from it from some faraway base. Thanks.

By the sites of that region, I assume you mean the cultural triangle.
If thats so, then I'd be happy to recommend the place I prefer to stay in that region.
It's at Sigirya, not Dambulla but close by.
Depends on what grade accomodation you want but if it's a 1st class guest house, then look at this one.
