Hi all,

Our family of four (including a 14 & 16 year old) are traveling in Sri Lanka for 3 weeks in Jan 2016.

We will being going up to the cultural triangle for 4 nights | 3 1/2 days.
We want to visit Polonnaruwa, Dambulla, Sigiriya and Minneriya National Park.

Is Polonnaruwa a good place to base ourselves for the 4 nights, or should we split it 2 nights across 2 locations?
(We're catching the train from Colombo to Polonnaruwa.)

Does 4 nights sound like the right amount of time?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Somewhere like Giritale is better since it is close to Minneriya and Sigiriya . Else you can chose Habarana as a base as it lies in the center of mentioned areas.
cheers

Habarana was an excellent for a regular visitor, for each of three historical sites one day is enough, it was the best base to cover Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa with nearby National Parks. Dambulla could be done in transit, better on your way back to Kandy. Anuradhapura is just 10 km further away than Polonnaruwa (from Habarana) thus entirely possible to do it as a day trip from Habarana
