Hi all,
Just found some mega cheap flights from Edinburgh to Colombo, for £313 approx for me and £200 ish for my son who will be three. The flights are with Qatar Airways, via Travel Trolley.
I just googled Travel Trolley, and have seen lots of posts advising against using them - but not many actual stories of woe. Apparently they are part of Southall Travel who are apparently terrible - I used them several times a few years ago whenever I went to india and always bought mega cheap flights from them and had no problems. Lots of people saying to book direct with the airline - surely it's a well known fact that doing that is the most expensive way of booking flights? And that most of these intermediaries offer cheaper prices and reliable service?? These are genuine questions to some of you seasoned travelers out there. If it were just me id have booked by now, but looking for a bit of bolstering now I've seen these reviews.

I was looking at skyscanner for Sri Lanka and was getting really good prices from travel trolley, cheaper than booking with Qatar direct. So, like you I did a bit of research and found a lot of people complaining that they would take the booking and payment but once you paid they would claim that the price was not guaranteed and you would end up paying more (probably to match what the airline was offering in the first place). However, I also found reports of people who had booked and had no problems and got bargain flights.
So what ever feedback you get about these companies it seems like it's going to be a gamble either way. I ended up booking direct with Qatar. I'd rather pay a little extra for the piece of mind and be able to log onto their site and manage the booking.
The other option is to book with travel trolley over the phone and get them to guarantee the price for you that way.
Thanks woody! Yes I called them and booked. I paid slightly more to include one free change of inbound flight, which I hope is actually on offer. Like I say, I've used Southall travel a couple of times before and got very cheap flights, and not had any problem. So touch wood/fingers crossed etc!! And I got 40kg baggage allowance - I believe if booking direct they only offer 30kg
