Hello - any experience climbing Adams Peak in august from Dalhousie? I wonder if it isnt too hot on daytime. Are there any people going up at night (to see sunrise)? Thanks, Heinzwolfgang

postcard of Adams Peak.

Normally at last stage people get up at about 4 am to start walking the last part to arrive at sunrise.

Hi Heinz.
I climbed Adam's Peak in the day in Aug and it was fine.
No matter when you climb it will feel hot as it is quite a workout going up those steps. Probably best to leave around 8am. It clouds over in afternoon and can rain.
I stayed at www.slightlychilled.tv

Very nice place. They also have bicycles to rent and there is another lake to cycle to.
Regards
Michael

Hi there. It is "off" season to climb Adam's Peak in August but; in August 2007 we had the most amazing sunrise. There were only 8 tourists and the guy who is the "off season" care-taker. The trail is not lit at all but ok to follow as long as you have a tourch. We left at 3.00am, arrived half hour or so before sunrise. The care-taker gave us a very nice cup of tea and let us sit in his hut - it was freezing. He did tell us that there hadn't been a sunrise for 2 months so may be we were just lucky. It was a memorable time. I'm sure walking in the day is good but going up in the dark and coming back in the day was fantastic. By the way, our guide was a dog...
