My friend and I have 10 days in September, we fly in and out of Colombo. We just want to meet people and see a sight sights. Girls, fun, and some sight-seeing photos so my mother doesn't think I'm wasting my money.

Get your mum to buy you a good guidebook then you can sit down with her and pick what sights you want to see and that she approves of.
Without knowing your interests, budget, mode of travel, etc,etc it is a bit difficult to recommend anything.

Hey Simon, thank you for your reply, it's actually and my friend travelling (both M26). We have a budget of £800 for the 10 days, we'd like to meet a few travellers, drink in cool bars, eat in good restaurants, maybe see some elephants, do the stuff you're meant to, spend time on nice beaches. All we have booked is the flight in and out of Colombo.

I was serious about a guidebook. It will give you an idea of what is on offer. I doubt you will be too interested in all the historical sites, but you may want to visit one just to tick the cultural box. I would definitely recommend Sigiriya.
Probably a bit of Kandy and the hill country, maybe the more popular places like Ella will appeal. Then head to coast for sun, sea and whatever.
Guidebook will help you choose sites and how you travel. Eighty quid a day is a very good budget so you should live well, although you will probably meet more young people in cheaper places and on public transport.
Probably good idea to spend first night in Negombo. See recent post re accommodation in Colombo for my recommendations.
Enjoy.
