I live/work in Dubai, and would love to make a short trip (5-6 days) to Pakistan. I tried to apply for a tourist visa at the consulate in Dubai, but they said it would take 2-3 months as my passport would have to be sent to Pakistan for evaluating my application(?!). My home country consulate (New Zealand) says it will be about a week, but they need a tour company LOI as well as copy of tour operator passport. I have read about Lost Horizons elsewhere in the forum. Will this company do? Or is…

I just finished a trip to India and Pakistan. What an amazing experience! I've recorded our travel at bradinpakistan.blogspot.com. There's also a video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pkDnh6e91Y. I am in Afghanistan right now and will be in Pakistan in a few days. I'll travel from Peshawar to Chitral and I'd like to do it in one of the famous Pakistani truck. As far as I know, trucks don't belong to drivers and none of them will take the responsability to take someone on board, but it can be arranged with the owner. I have been told that there is a place near Islamabad where it's possible to meet truck owners and ask for that. Is that right ? Do you know what is the best way…

It is just to let fellow travelers know that Shandur Polo Festival 2015 is scheduled to be held from 7-9 August 2015. The dates of the festival were changed because of the Holy Month of Ramadan coincided with the usual dates of the festival. In the Holy Month of Ramadan Muslim people keep fasts so therefore it becomes very difficult for the players to play the polo while keeping fast, so thus the dates were changed. These are confirmed and final dates.

I'm planning on cycling the Karakorum Highway if it is safe enough for a UK citizen sometime this year or early next year. Has anyone cycled this recently? Is it safe? Or should it br avoided? Any advice would be appreciated.
