I am planning to travel from Lahore to Karachi by road. Has anyone ever done this route? Is it safe? Or is is better to take a flight?

I recently spent 2 months traveling in Pakistan from south to North ( in order Karachi to Islamabad, Khunjerab Pass, Gilgit, Hunza, Passu, Skardu, Deosai, Fairy Meadows, Phandar, Taxila and Lahore).

Hi, we are in Karachi for three nights. We love Pakistani food in the UK and are looking for a place to have an excellent local meals. I'm not sure about that but we love Currys with lots of sauce, not dryer tandoori food and kebabs.
Based on this assumption, could someone please recommend a restaurant for an excellent curry?

I don't suppose there's anywhere in Karachi where you can also buy "designer" bags at a knock down price, or alternatively have one copied from a picture at a rock bottom price?

I'm here in Quetta and I want to go to Lahore but it seems it's not that easy.
The police said that I can't leave the city by bus without NOC.
But the Home Department said they won't give me NOC. There was also an Italian guy who wanted to travel to Taftan but he was told the same.

I have 2 options now.
- travel by plane: too expensive and I have to wait here for 4 days
- travel by train: they said to me that it will take 2 days to get to Lahore because of the floods

Immediately the Khunjerab border pass will be reopen for trade and tourism on 08 October 2012 after one day.
because China is celebrating its National Day just weeks before a once-in-a-decade handover of power within the ruling Communist Party.

Does anyone out there know if the lake closes because of winter? Sometime similar to the Khunjerab Pass?
